Getting Here
The journey is part of the adventure
Whether by air or road, reaching Samonyana is an experience in itself.
By Air
Charter flights — the preferred route
Most guests arrive by light aircraft charter from Maun. The 90-minute flight offers breathtaking views over the delta — an unforgettable start to any stay. Samonyana is served by two nearby airstrips: one at Seronga village and one at the neighbouring Kadizora Lodge. Our team arranges pickup from whichever strip you land at and transfers you to the island by boat.
For something truly special, helicopter transfers can be arranged at extra cost from either airstrip — arriving over the channels and landing close to camp is an experience in itself.

Self-drive for the adventurous
For most guests, the self-drive route means driving to the mainland pickup point and taking a short boat transfer to the island. But for adventurous travellers with the right vehicle, there is another option entirely.
At certain times of year, when water levels allow, it is possible to drive directly onto the island. This involves crossing shallow water channels and flooded terrain — a genuinely exciting bush driving experience that very few destinations in Africa can offer. In exceptionally dry periods, the crossing has even been made in a two-wheel-drive vehicle, though a high-clearance 4×4 with snorkel is always recommended.
